Order and booking updates on WhatsApp, sent from your own number
Not a bot with somebody else's name on it. The message a guest gets says it's from you, because it actually is.
In short
WhatsApp updates send a guest their order or booking status on WhatsApp, out from your own connected WhatsApp Business number rather than a shared one. The same connection also carries the one-time passcode a guest uses to sign in when booking a room, tried on WhatsApp first with SMS as the fallback. It is included in the plan, not priced separately.
- Sent from your own WhatsApp Business number
- Order and booking status, as they change
- WhatsApp-first OTP for guest sign-in, SMS as fallback
- Included in the plan, switched off if you don't want it
From your number, because that is who the guest trusts
A status update that arrives from an unfamiliar number, or one shared across a hundred other businesses, reads as spam before it is even opened. Connect your own WhatsApp Business number once, and every update a guest receives carries your name and comes from the number they would message you on anyway.
What is actually sent
Order placed and order status changes on the restaurant side; booking confirmations and status changes on the hotel side. Each goes out as a WhatsApp-approved message template — a WhatsApp requirement for any business account, not a limitation of ours — so a guest gets a clean, consistent message rather than free text.
Signing in without waiting on an SMS
Booking a room asks a guest to verify who they are, and the passcode for that is sent on WhatsApp first — faster and cheaper than SMS for most guests — with SMS used automatically as the fallback for anyone without it.
What it needs from you
A WhatsApp Business account connected from the portal, once. There is a test message you can send to yourself before it goes anywhere near a guest, so the first one a customer sees is not the first one you have seen either.
Message templates go through WhatsApp's own approval before they can be used — that is WhatsApp's process, and it applies to every business sending template messages, not something specific to this product.
Questions about this
More general questions — price, commission, data, multiple outlets — are answered here.
Does the guest message come from your number or mine?
Yours. Updates go out from your own WhatsApp Business number, once you connect it — never from a shared number that would make a message look like it came from a stranger.
What actually gets sent?
Order and booking status: that an order or a reservation has been placed, and when its status changes. These go out as pre-approved WhatsApp templates, which is a WhatsApp requirement for any business message and not something particular to us.
Is this instead of SMS, or as well as it?
WhatsApp first, with SMS as the fallback. It is also how a one-time passcode reaches a guest signing in to book a room — WhatsApp is tried first, and SMS covers a guest without it.
What do I have to set up?
Your own WhatsApp Business account, connected once from the portal, with a test message you can send yourself before it goes live for guests.
Does this cost extra?
No — it is part of the plan, not a separate add-on.
What if I don't want to send WhatsApp updates?
Leave it switched off. Nothing about ordering or booking depends on it — it is a notification on top of an order or a reservation that already exists, not a step in placing one.
